About Praxis Housing Initiatives
Praxis Housing Initiatives is a New York City nonprofit dedicated to bringing about sustainable transformation in the lives of chronically homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS, mental health conditions, chemical dependency, and other special needs. The organization operates four residences and more than 100 scatter-site apartments across Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan, housing over 1,100 people daily. Since 2006, Praxis has placed more than 11,000 individuals in permanent housing.
Project Scope
Complete website redesign to modernize the organization’s digital presence. The project included custom design, information architecture, a mobile-responsive layout, and an integrated WordPress content management system.

The site organizes Praxis’s housing portfolio into clear categories: transitional housing, scatter-site housing, permanent supportive housing, and DHS shelters. A programs and services section outlines the organization’s three-phase approach to meeting client needs. Success stories highlight the real-world impact of Praxis’s work. A client resources section provides updates and downloadable materials for current residents. News and media sections support ongoing communication, and contact forms enable inquiries from potential partners, donors, and volunteers.
Technical Specifications
Front end development utilized HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Back end development was built on PHP/MySQL with WordPress as the CMS platform.
